Electrode welding also known as MMA (alternatively SMAW) is a welding method that uses a consumable electrode to produce a weld.
Electrode welding is a versatile method that can be used to weld a wide range of materials, such as steel, aluminium and cast iron, and is commonly used in construction and repair work.
However, it is a slow process compared to other welding methods and produces more spatter and slag, which makes it harder to clean, requiring more cleaning after welding.
It is the best known and most economical method and if low production costs are the first priority then this method is a one-way street.
